At Novacom, we’re always about making things happen; driven, daring, and ready to break the mould. Today, we’re proud to share that we’ve joined the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme at Level 1: Disability Confident – Committed. It’s a fresh step in our commitment to an inclusive working environment.
As a Level 1 Disability Confident Committed employer, we’ve formally pledged to:
Plus, we’ve committed to a meaningful activity, like offering an apprenticeship, work experience, or traineeship to help create opportunities for people with disabilities who would want to seek a career in digital marketing.
In the UK nearly one in four of the working-age population are classed as disabled, that’s 7.7 million people. Disabled people are more likely to be working in low-skilled, low-paid occupations with less career opportunities. This is often down to a few factors, such as:
The scheme helps employers feel more confident when hiring and supporting disabled employees and allows for disabled workers to have more equal opportunities to work in careers that may have previously felt out of reach.
At Novacom we want to see the disability hiring gap closed, with more careers becoming accessible and available to disabled people. We hope to inspire other businesses to consider the scheme and to help make workplaces across the region more inclusive and accessible.
Company director Will Yates said “We want Novacom to be a place where people can thrive, whatever their starting point or background. We’re excited to continue building a workplace that reflects the diverse world we’re part of, so we are proud to be backing this scheme”.
