 \u201cThe Centre is impartial\u2026and gives fleets access to world leading engineering and scientific expertise\u2026.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

These were just some of the Press comments made in several publications following the successful Centre for Sustainable Road Freight briefing event hosted by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) in London in late November 2016.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by a number of journalists from the road transport press, representatives from the Dept. for Transport, Transport for London, LowCVP, FTA and RHA as well as a number of industry members from the Centre. The SRF presentations included an introduction from Tony Pain, followed by examples of real life experience from Dave Rowlands of Wincanton and Justin Laney of John Lewis Partnership whilst Rachel Dillon of the FTA discussed the \u2018SRF Optimiser\u2019and FTA\u2019s LCRS.  Some principal research findings were highlighted by Andrew Palmer covering the Starfish project and David Cebon discussed several research outcomes in summary as well as a view towards the future direction of carbon saving in road transport. A lively debate concerning the performance and cost benefits of various alternative fuels followed the presentations, leading to one comment from \u2018CV Engineer\u2019. Referring to the excellent work of the SRF, its editorial said<\/p>\n

\u201d\u2026 this surely needs to be expanded to attract greater involvement of and co-operation with more stakeholders in the sustainability challenge, including local authorities<\/em>\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

Subsequent press articles included two items in Transport Engineer during November 2016<\/a> and Transport Engineer Jan 17<\/a>, a CV Engineer press release in Dec 16<\/a> and coverage by Freight in the City<\/a>, the Freight Transport Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
