On 14th January a workshop was held at Cambridge University Engineering Department to discuss research into road freight. The event was attended by senior technical and logistics personnel from some of the UK’s major commercial freight transport organisations. The workshop provided an overview of the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight (SRF) and a summary of the current research portfolio.<\/p>\n
During the day, Wincanton\u2019s Dave Rowlands contributed to the discussion on the Centre\u2019s role in addressing current challenges in the road freight sector with a presentation titled ‘An Operator\u2019s Perspective’. Ian Wainwright provided an interesting insight into Transport for London\u2019s perception of the current position of the road freight sector with a presentation on ‘Issues in Urban Freight’. The day was rounded up with a tour of the research labs at Cambridge, including demonstrations of some of the existing research activities.<\/p>\n
