He is jointly responsible (together with Keith Glover, Professor of Control Engineering) for the Engine Emissions Instrumentation and Control group. The group\u2019s interests are mainly IC engine control, and emissions measurement and amelioration. He has authored or co-authored over 80 technical publications on IC engine topics, mainly in the field of fast response emissions analysers for gases and particles, and emissions reduction techniques. This research has resulted in commercial exploitation by a university spin-off company, Cambustion Ltd, of which he was a founding director. His other interests lie in novel combustion processes for gasoline and diesel engines, and investigations into abnormal combustion phenomena.
